about
I See Grief, a new single from the Norwegian duo of Mattis Myrland and Jonas Sjøvaag, is an electronically inspired track that opens with an insisting bass synth overtaken by a rhythmical stretch of sampled and electronic drums, wailing vocals, and a beat that triggers energetic dance, before it reaches an apex and turns into a ballad.
With vocals in front, proclaiming a critical observation of how the opinion now is spun with lies and not facts, it then builds towards a highpoint where Myrlands magnificent voice shines on top of trumpets, exclaiming how the world will end if you believe it will, and thus leaves a somewhat hopeful afterthought in the listener.
lyrics
I see grief, and I feel sorrow
Every day, every tomorrow
Let's see how it goes, as we move through the shadows
and talk in verse, more than prose
Let's see how it goes
Let's see how it goes
For themselves, at all of our mercy
It's all blurred, and it's all dirty
All of their words, from illiterate mouths, they
Lie through their teeth, cheat and oppose
Everybody knows
Everybody knows
If you believe
that tomorrow will never come
If you believe
That tomorrow will never come
It will never come
Never come
Never come
